This is a bit off topic, but I wanted to share it with you.
We’re working to establish a student-travel prize at Kalamazoo College in my mother’s name. She taught Spanish at Kalamazoo College and loved it there.

Her students and colleagues also loved her. She was an incredibly gifted teacher and a consummate professional. Study-abroad is a huge part of the curriculum at K-College, and my mother thought it was an essential part of any language program. Indeed, foreign study had played a huge role in her own life when, back in the 1950s, she got to travel to England one summer and study at Oxford.
We thus decided to establish this award which not only honors her, but will allow her to continue supporting students at ‘K’ in perpetuity.
