I hope you survived “Blackout Wednesday,” though your reward is to now face the grim reality of “Black Friday.” Black Friday brings out pretty much all of the worst impulses in Americans, and, as I’ve learned while writing this post, Brazilians and Britons, and many other peoples.
I really thought this was just an American phenomenon. Only Americans could be this dumb, right? But worldwide evidence of brawls over bargain-priced televisions and other bullshit once again proves, sadly in this case, that American exceptionalism is a myth.
So wherever you are in the world this morning, if you’d like to risk being trampled, pepper-sprayed, assaulted, or shot, just head on down to the nearest shopping center to get those great deals!
