Dear Readers,
Lately I’ve been having rich, vivid dreams. It’s fun—gives me a real window into my psyche.
On Sunday night I dreamt that the Russians were invading. Or maybe it was the Chinese. I don’t know. Anyway, somebody was invading, and I was in an apartment building with friends and family ready to repel the attack. Just as the invading troops were opening the door, I lifted my weapon to fire . . .
. . . but instead of a gun, I was holding my television remote control.
It’s surely not a coincidence that I spent all day Sunday on my couch watching—and gambling on—football. “Draftkings” had given me a $10 bonus bet to get me “back in the game.”
I don’t think I’d gambled since the Super Bowl. But I rarely say “no” to potential free money, so I took the offer.
And then it got exciting. I somehow turned that free $10 into $30! But then the $30 became $20. And then it became $28! But soon it was back down to $18.
So I went to bed. And then I had that dream.
I’ve clearly got some hangups I need to work through with my psychoanalyst.
